A Company List Built Beyond the Aggregators

TAM discovery infographic showing public data sources across countries

This is how to build a comprehensive list of companies outside Apollo and ZoomInfo with Claude Code alone.

Framework credit goes to Jordan Crawford on his new substack On The Edge.

The framework -

Aggregators give you the companies they happen to have. Around 60% of any vertical. Zero view of the missing 40%.
Government registries hold companies that legally must be on a public list.
Trade associations hold companies that paid to be findable.
Stock exchanges hold companies that wanted public capital.

Tested it on a client TAM & built a list within a few hours.

Phase 1 -> 5 parallel discovery agents fanning out across Wikipedia, regulators, exchanges, and associations. 6,235 supplement entries.
Phase 2 -> BlitzAPI firmographic API by industry x country x size. 9,300 companies.
Phase 3 -> dedupe + LinkedIn slug enrichment + per-industry employee floor. 9,662 verified accounts.

Most TAM lists miss the market because the team starts with the wrong question. Not where is the data. Where does the truth about this vertical actually live.

From 180 without this approach to 9,662. Same day.

Codified as a Claude Code skill at Prospects Pulse.

Apollo and ZoomInfo are still on the table. Just not the only thing on it.
