We Built Our Own HR Portal in a Day

Yesterday, within a day, we built our own HR portal. It is agentic and runs the whole team now.

Every HR task ran through me. Payslips, leave, letters, onboarding.

The founder, I, was the bottleneck.

So we built our own HR portal in a day. Frontend, API, database, cron. All of it.

The whole thing is one Cloudflare Worker.

The stack, in one place -
1. Frontend - A no-build single-page app. No framework.
2. Backend - The same Worker serves the API.
3. Database - Cloudflare D1, plain SQLite.
4. Document vault - Cloudflare R2 for every payslip and letter.
5. Login - Cloudflare Access, one-time PIN. No passwords to store.

Then we automated the parts I used to do by hand -
Payroll generates itself on Monday. Payslips are emailed out on their own.

Leave flows into the balance, then into loss of pay, then into the payslip.

Probation letters, salary-review nudges, birthday and anniversary cards. All automatic.

PDFs render server side. Email runs through AgentMail (YC S25).

Finally. The founder does not have to be the HR department.
